DBA Engineer for social media industry
My client is looking for an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to join their team in Limassol, Cyprus.

The Role:
My client is looking for an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to join their team in Limassol, Cyprus. You will be responsible for managing high-load, mission-critical databases, ensuring availability, performance, and security across production systems. This role requires a strong hands-on approach, supporting developers, optimizing performance, and maintaining resilient database infrastructures.
Responsibilities:
- Manage relational and NoSQL DBMS across multiple product lifecycle environments (development, staging, production).
- Configure and maintain database servers and load balancers, monitoring health and performance to ensure availability, scalability, and security.
- Participate in on-call incident escalation, analyze issues in real time, and provide end-to-end resolution.
- Automate and refine regular processes, track issues, and maintain documentation.
- Support developers with query optimization and schema design.
- Perform scheduled maintenance and release deployment activities.
- Assist in data migrations between different DBMS.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience supporting and optimizing high-load, highly available MySQL databases in production.
- Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, preferably GCP.
- Familiarity with Terraform and Git.
- Proven expertise in performance tuning and optimization, using monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
- Solid understanding of web application architecture and its relationship to databases.
- Strong analytical thinking, teamwork skills, and stress resilience.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with ProxySQL, MySQL Orchestrator.
- Knowledge of Debezium, Kafka.
- Experience with SaltStack.
- Exposure to ScyllaDB or Aerospike.
- Familiarity with Java application stack (Spring, Hibernate).
- Upper-Intermediate English proficiency.
