The Role:

My client is looking for an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to join their team in Limassol, Cyprus. You will be responsible for managing high-load, mission-critical databases, ensuring availability, performance, and security across production systems. This role requires a strong hands-on approach, supporting developers, optimizing performance, and maintaining resilient database infrastructures.

Responsibilities:

• Manage relational and NoSQL DBMS across multiple product lifecycle environments (development, staging, production).
• Configure and maintain database servers and load balancers, monitoring health and performance to ensure availability, scalability, and security.
• Participate in on-call incident escalation, analyze issues in real time, and provide end-to-end resolution.
• Automate and refine regular processes, track issues, and maintain documentation.
• Support developers with query optimization and schema design.
• Perform scheduled maintenance and release deployment activities.
• Assist in data migrations between different DBMS.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience supporting and optimizing high-load, highly available MySQL databases in production.
• Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, preferably GCP.
• Familiarity with Terraform and Git.
• Proven expertise in performance tuning and optimization, using monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
• Solid understanding of web application architecture and its relationship to databases.
• Strong analytical thinking, teamwork skills, and stress resilience.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with ProxySQL, MySQL Orchestrator.
• Knowledge of Debezium, Kafka.
• Experience with SaltStack.
• Exposure to ScyllaDB or Aerospike.
• Familiarity with Java application stack (Spring, Hibernate).
• Upper-Intermediate English proficiency.
