Head of User Acquisition – Gaming & Digital Entertainment
Lead User Acquisition for Gaming & Digital Entertainment: own strategy, budget, and a growing team; partner with Product, Data, and Partnerships to drive scalable growth.
Head of User Acquisition
Role Overview
We’re looking for a senior leader to take full ownership of top‑of‑funnel user acquisition across all marketing‑driven channels. This role combines strategic planning with hands‑on performance management, ensuring that acquisition efforts are scalable, efficient, and aligned with broader business goals.
You’ll be responsible for acquisition outcomes, budget oversight, and team leadership. While you’ll collaborate closely with Product, Growth, and Data teams, this position focuses specifically on acquisition rather than the full growth lifecycle (retention, monetization, or product‑led growth).
Key Responsibilities
User Acquisition Leadership
Own user acquisition performance across all channels, including forecasting, reporting, and continuous optimization.
Manage acquisition efforts across:
Paid channels (search, social, video, emerging platforms)
Organic channels (SEO, ASO, platform visibility, LLM‑driven discovery)
Owned social surfaces (YouTube, TikTok, and future platforms)
Influencer, creator, and affiliate programs
Partnerships and distribution channels (in collaboration with the Partnerships team)
Ensure each channel has clear goals, ownership, and performance expectations.
Strategy & Execution
Translate company and marketing strategy into actionable acquisition plans with defined priorities, targets, and expected outcomes.
Build short‑ and mid‑term acquisition roadmaps aligned with growth objectives.
Maintain forecasting models to guide planning and investment decisions.
Performance Management
Define and maintain acquisition KPIs, dashboards, and reporting cadences.
Conduct regular performance reviews, identify gaps, and implement corrective actions.
Foster a culture of experimentation, testing, and continuous improvement.
Budget Ownership
Manage or influence the user acquisition budget, ensuring efficient allocation across channels.
Optimize spend to balance scale, ROI, and sustainable growth.
Recommend budget adjustments based on performance and strategic needs.
Team Leadership
Lead and grow a User Acquisition team (initially 2–3 direct reports, with potential to scale).
Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and operating rhythms.
Create an environment that supports high performance and accountability.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Work closely with:
Marketing leadership to align acquisition with overall strategy
Product and Growth teams on product‑led acquisition surfaces (without owning PLG metrics)
Data teams on attribution, experimentation, and analytics
Collaborate with senior individual contributors across the funnel to ensure clarity of scope and expectations.
Requirements
5+ years of experience in user acquisition, growth, or performance marketing for B2C software products.
Proven track record scaling consumer products with large user bases (desktop and/or mobile).
Strong hands‑on experience managing acquisition targets, budgets, and forecasting.
Ability to operate at a senior management level, translating strategy into execution.
Experience leading and scaling teams, with clear goal‑setting and accountability frameworks.
Strong analytical skills and familiarity with attribution models and experimentation.
Excellent communication and cross‑functional collaboration abilities.
Fluent English (B2+).
Based in Europe (remote‑friendly).
Nice to Have
Experience in gaming, creator tools, or products aimed at Gen Z / Gen Alpha.
Deep understanding of YouTube and TikTok as discovery/search platforms.
Experience scaling acquisition across multiple regions.
Background in freemium or self‑serve business models.
Experience working with product teams on product‑led acquisition.
Exposure to scaling‑stage environments where processes and teams were built or restructured.
